Current Favorites: Aspen Restaurants

Aspen is known for its skiing, summertime hikes, vibrant art scene—as well as its food. Here are some of my current go-to spots… stay tuned for more favorites coming to this list soon!

Casa Tua

Casa Tua is one of my favorite restaurants in Aspen for lunch and dinner. The cuisine is Italian—and consistently excellent—while the vibe is European mountain chic. Many of the staff have worked here for years, and they are always incredibly friendly. If you are visiting in the summer, ask to dine on the patio. It is the perfect place to sit and people-watch!

White House Tavern

Casual but lively, White House Tavern is an Aspen staple. It also serves the Macho Salad, my go-to—literally, I find myself ordering it a few times a week. I even have started making this salad at home! The menu isn’t extensive, but everything on it is delicious, from the salads to the sandwiches. They don’t take reservations, so I recommend going on the earlier side and being prepared to put your name down. While waiting, I love to walk around town. They’ll shoot over a text when the table is ready.

Matsuhisa

Matsuhisa is my favorite Japanese restaurant. Vibey and loud, the downstairs is for reservations only—ideal for a group dinner—while upstairs is walk-in with a limited menu. I highly recommend the Adam Roll, especially if you like salmon. Make sure to save room for dessert—order the mochi ice cream and the shaved ice!

Ellina

With a delicious chicken Milanese, Ellina is one of the best restaurants in Aspen for Italian. Quaint and intimate, it is the perfect spot for dinner in the heart of downtown. They also have outdoor tables for summer dining, as well as surprisingly good tacos.

Ajax Tavern

Another Aspen staple, Ajax Tavern is located right off the Ajax gondola. It is the best spot for a ski-day lunch. In the summer months, I love to grab a seat outside and enjoy the sun. Make sure to order the truffle fries!
